Adapting a capacity-development-in-higher-education project: Doing, being and becoming virtual collaboration

In November 2019, scholars and practitioners from ten higher education institutions celebrated the launch of iKudu project. This project, co-funded by Erasmus+[1], focuses on capacity development for curriculum transformation through internationalisation Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) virtual exchange. Detailed plans 2020 were discussed including a series site visits face-to-face training. However, realities COVID-19 pandemic disrupted in ways that could not have been foreseen new thinking doing came to fore. Writing an insider perspective as project partners, this paper we draw appreciative inquiry, using metaphor mosaic our identity, first provide background before sharing impact project’s adapted approach. We then discuss how alongside focus delivery internationalised transformed COIL, have, very approach adopted principles COIL A positive was offered consciousness raising activity, which suggest be used more broadly order help academics think about international research practice partnerships, and, situation, decolonised practices might approached.
